The ultimate guide to defeating the Crimson Demon in The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross. Note that I write this guide based on the boss difficulty of extreme. The other difficulties can follow the same strategies.

Phase 1 & 2: Stall until you get the Demon Meliodas Ulti or whatever rank-3 cards.
Phase 3: Release the Demon Meliodas Ultimate with all debuffs and attack cards you have. Pray.
Crimson Demon – Basics
When beating the Crimson, there will be 3 phases in total:
Phase 1: He places a debuff called Hell Torture which prevents players from using healing cards. You cannot use the healing cards but still can have the healing ability gained from regeneration, Lifesteal ability, SR Red Elizabeth passive, etc.
Phase 2: The boss keep casting the Hell Torture debuff. Additionally, he now uses the AoE “Reap Soul” attack which deals massive damage and has a 30% life steal.
Phase 3: This is where the battle starts getting difficult. There are a few things you need to watch out:
▶️ Brand:
- If there is no branded hero in your team, the boss will brand one of them.
- When Crimson Demon brands a Hero, he clears all of the debuffs on the target and then remove all of the buffs on branded Heroes.
- He starts attacking the branded hero.
- Unique effects do not work when the heroes are branded.
▶️ Malice
- In phase 3, whenever the Crimson gets hit, he gains a stack of malice which increases his defense and attack by 2%.
The first 2 phases are no fancy but the phase 3 requires some specific strategies. If you don’t have any preparation, you will have some nightmares. Or even if you cannot take down the boss in a few turns, you will have a very hard time. This is why you want to have some burst skills here when facing the Crimson Demon.
Best Heroes for Crimson Demon
You need to have a certain level of equipment for this fight. You have to survive at least 1 hit from the boss and your gears should provide enough damage.
If you don’t’ have any decent set of gear yet, you just cannot beat him. There is no team composition can help you beat the boss with bad gears.
And defense gears are best here because you want to survive 1-2 hits from the bosses attack while having the maximum potential of bursting damage.
Damage Dealer | ||
Tier | Hero | Description |
SS | ![]() Demon Meliodas | Demon Meliodas because the boss takes 30% more damage from Demon class and 50% more damage from his ultimate “Weak Point”. The Demon Meliodas is built for the Crimson Demon, no doubt. He also has the color advantage so just use him if you have him. |
S | ![]() Red SSR Ban | He has the color advantage, weak point ability, and cool name. And he is awesome. That’s it. |
![]() Vivian | A great option for free to play players! If you can burst through phase 1 and 2 with ease, you don’t need her. But if you don’t have enough damage then she is a great choice for you. The Ignite skill increases the damage dealt by 10% so you basically counter his Malice skill. She also has an impressive multiplier on her Ultimate. She is SR and she has the color advantage.
A | ![]() Red Elizabeth & Hawk | Consistent damage, easy to build up, type advantage, great burst. Her Unique doesn’t do much here if you get hit but if you can 1-shot the first 2 hearts of the boss, you will gain 20% buff. She is a great option because many players already have her built up for the Red Demon. |
![]() Green Jericho | Yay! Finally another good game mode for Green Jericho. Tons of people have already built her up for PvP and Guild Boss so it’s good to use her here. You want to use her carefully so that her Ultimate crits on the last phase. Her base crit chance is low before you activate her unique. And remember that the unique is disabled if you get attacked in phase 3. You need to use her Ultimate immediately on phase 3, don’t wait. Using Green Helbram to buff her crit chance is a viable strategy.
![]() Red SSR Arthur | He has the type advantage, he can buff and his ultimate can deal okay damage. If you don’t have any other good buffer, Archer can get the job done here although his buffs are not better than Green Gilthunder and Green Helbram. His Ultimate gives you a guaranteed crit. He plays a great role in-between damage dealer and buffer. The rank 3 buff allows you to be immune to debuff blocking heal cards, giving you a space to heal up the team. He provides some decent sustain for the team and it’s what you need here. You don’t want to focus on defending too much.
B | ![]() Red Helbram | Many players also have him built up for PvP. he is read so he has the color advantage. His first skill has a great multipliers. |
Buffers | ||
Tier | Hero | Description |
SS | ![]() Green Helbram | He is a great buffer who adds attack, crit damage, crit chance at once, which is ideally the best here. He synergies very well with Green Jericho and his passive is so clutch when he is almost killed by the boss. |
![]() Green Gilthunder | He is a great choice here for free players. He might be a bit worse than Helbram although they two could work together in some team composition. He has nice damage on the Ultimate. He contributes to the burst on phase 3 very well.
A | ![]() Red SSR Authur | The rank 3 buff adds defense so great for getting extra survivability while getting also great damage buff. He is excellent if you are having some troubles with surviving. He is a great option if you are just looking for damage. |
Supports | ||
Tier | Hero | Description |
SS | ![]() Gowther | Just use him if you have him. |
S | Green Merlin | If you are having troubles with surviving, Merlin is definitely the best choice for you as she bypasses healing card block debuff. Her cube does great job. Her skill 1 provides a decent multiplier. Her Ultimate is great. You want to use attack gears on her to make the cube stronger, allowing her to be good at both damage and utility. She doesn’t have the type advantage but she doesn’t have the disadvantage one. Her ultimate gauge boost is always nice but you still have a few turns to prepare for the phase 3 tho. |
A | ![]() Green SSR Elizabeth | She is a great pick for the Gray Demon. She is useful but not so great. You will have the ultimate gauge boost, healing and buff removal. However, none of those is great here. Her heal could get blocked by the Crimson Demon unless you have the Authur rank 3 buff ready. The Ultimate Gaugage buff is not that great because you have plenty of time before phase 3. Plus she has a type disadvantage to the boss. |
![]() Red SR Elizabeth (Healer) | Pretty similar to the Green SSR Elizabeth above. She is decent but not that great for your team. Her passive is okay but you can get it from the substitute slot. She has the type advantage but still gets +30% damage from the boss due to her goddess class. It’s better to just use her in the 4th slot. |
SubGenerally, you want to have units helping you maximize the damage in the 4th slot.
Tier | Hero | Description |
SS | ![]() SR Cain | He is the best pick for damage boost for this 4th slot at the moment. He boosts attack, crit damage, crit chance and pierce rate by 10%. That’s all you need. |
![]() Deathpierce | Since the boss has high crit resistance, you want him in your team if you are running a high crit team. Otherwise he is useless. A great strategy with Deathpierce is to have a player using Cain and you use Deathpierce. Honestly 2 Cains can do the job very well if your team is not relying on crit damage.
S | ![]() Golgius | Extra 15% damage, a bit worse than Cain but still a nice one. |
A | ![]() Red SSR Authur | Lol he is such a great MVP of this list. We can see him everywhere :D. He gives a decent buff if you are playing Human heroes in your team. Otherwise, he is useless. He has 15% lifesteal, giving your team a little healing ability. |
![]() Red SR Elizabeth (Healer) | As mentioned above, you can’t use her heal card but she still provides the passive healing ability.
![]() Ruin | He provides 20% damage taken reduction, which is always great. |
Best Team Compositions for Crimson Demon
Double-Buff Teams
This one is extremely versatile. Only use it if you have enough damage to use it. The strategy here is to take the turn 1 to prepare, buff&kill the first heart in turn 2, then 1-shot the remaining hearts. Even if you miss, you still can get through it. Ensure your gears are good.
Single-Buff Teams
Basically the same as double buff but you replace 1 buffer with a sustain Hero like G Merlin, Arthur, etc.
Team 1:

Team 2

Survivors
If you have trouble surviving in the first 2 phases, you want to try this kind of team. This archetype helps you survive to get there but you will get some troubles in phase 3. Now, you might want to pray for RNG god every day at this point. You want to decrease the difficulty if you think it’s just a RNG-based battle.

Here are some records of the battles I did with the double buff team, single buff team and example of what could go wrong when dealing with Crimson Demon.
Conclusion
In short, the first two phases should be easy but you need some specific strategies to deal with the Crimson Demon as mention in the guide above. The offense is the best defense here. You want to boost your damage and get the highest Burst to take the boss out as soon as possible.
the team:
red derieri (color advantage+amplify ult+demon race)
arthur(buffs for the team)
gowther(increase skill ranks)
sub cain/red jericho
you constantly want to use 1 deri card until the final stage which you’ll want to use any cards before attacking with her ult, red derieri’s unique gives her an additional 10% attack per card used without a turn of not using one, and her ult inflicts amplify (additional 30% damage per buff on self) which can lead to MASSIVE ammounts of damage, red escanor also gets the same ability on his base card which can deal massive damage.
Great team these days! Thanks for sharing with us!
I think you are underestimating Green Liz on this comp. When skilled up ranks, she debuffs then heals the team. Her Ultimate is her key that allows you to spam your DPS ulitmates and the healing it provides doesnt get blocked by the the debuff. As long as the buffs are provided by your teammate, having one Green Liz is a strong comp.
does my subs unique passive applies to my partner team and vice versa?
Yes!
